story behind the story

“I worked with a variously talented Finnish stylist Suvi Poutiainen as I knew she was the best person to create a minimalistic Scandinavian story. As the male model I chose Lauri, whom I photographed for the first time back in 2006. The female model was the lovely new face Anna, who made a good compliment to Lauri. Marii Sadrak created great make-up under the theme clean, but strange. The animal skulls were borrowed from a friend who had found them while hiking in a forest. When returning home he boiled the skulls in order to clean them of dirt and residues of flesh. The outcome was fragile yet brutal showing the nature’s way of turning even death into beauty.” – Diana Luganski
