After just a short time in New York, Australian sweethearts Myf Shepherd (left) and Sarah Stevens (right - profile coming to O2W soon) are booking up a storm. Both have shot a story on hot new faces for 10 Magazine and were handpicked by designer Frida Giannini for Gucci’s two day presentation to the editors. Sarah has been photographed by Greg Kadel for Numero, and Myf has editorials coming out in Exit Magazine and Numero Tokyo. Stay tuned.

Paparazzi Model Management in Helsinki, Finland shot to the top of our must-watch agency list when, a few years back, booker Jari Leskinen introduced us to a new face named Suvi Koponen. Jari again set off our new girl alarm not once but twice late last year with the introduction of Mia Frilander and Suvi Jokinen, and in the months since we have been waiting in quiet desperation to feature them on TheOnes2Watch. Now with Mia Frilander in Paris with IMG, Suvi set to follow next week, and Paparazzi’s January discovery Anette Montin starting to attract serious attention, the time is right to add these fabulous Finns to the site.

Quietly racking up extreme studio time is Mariana Idzkowska. Discovered a year ago by Eastern Models in Poland, Mariana is now working non-stop in Europe, Japan and the US. She’s shot with photographers as diverse as Pascal Chevalier, Satoshi Saikusa and Vincent Peters. You may have seen her on the 3 flawless covers of Russian Vogue Beauty photographed by Lee Broomfield, or in US Allure by Greg Williams. And that’s only a partial list of her recent work - add to that editorials for the Italian, French, Belgian and Greek editions of Elle, a story and cover for Spanish Telva with John Galliano, Italian Vanity Fair (pictured), Marie Claire UK and Japan, and Ginza with Leslie Kee, as well as campaigns for exclusive ski wear brand Moncler and Polish brand Wittchen. Mariana is placed with Ford Models in New York, Nathalie Paris, Major Models Milan, Take 2 London, Stage Models Tokyo and View Management Barcelona.

Aneta Bielecka @ Avant Management Warsaw

Swish! Three points!

After one of our more vigilant colleagues brought Aneta Bielecka to our attention, we contacted our wonderful friend Gosia at Avant Management Warsaw for details. Now 17, this Polish girl from Wroclaw was discovered last year when she took the proverbial bull by the horns. Aneta did what any 180cm tall gorgeous girl with “big blue hypnotizing eyes” would do. She got on the internet and sent in some photos. Of course Gosia was amazed. So much so that she trekked to see Aneta in person and just knew Avant “had to have her.”

It is hard not to state the obvious. That height combined with 81cm-60cm-90cm measurements merits thick Sharpie check marks in the plus column. Oh but there’s more. Turns out she’s graceful too. And in the last few months her development has come along nicely, building on an already impressive confidence that will be “super on the runways.”

Aneta’s interests include photography and painting. She’s athletic as well and will be glad to take you on in her two favorite sports, a game of volleyball or a tennis match. Her dream? The cover of American Vogue.

Daniela Borges @ Nass Model Management Brazil / New York Model Management / Why Not Model Agency Milan

14 year old Daniela Borges officially began her third show season February at DNKY Fall 2008. That’s not a typo. A native of Curitiba, Brazil, Daniela was locally discovered by scout Marco Ganzaro and presented to the capable hands of Nass Model Management. She instantly grabbed our attention at Jill Stuart Fall 2007 (her second, all-black ensemble was rock chick gorgeous) and we’ve been chatting up a storm with our friend Nass booker Paulo Campos about her ever since.

Daniela is a fresh, beautiful brunette with strong features. There’s something Jessica Milleresque about her that particularly strikes us. It’s that look she can give. An innocence on the surface that barely covers a take-charge confidence within. Her profile is to die for thanks to her fashiongenic and those arched brows. She’s 177cm and her measurements are 81cm-62cm-86cm. Her amazing body is the result of being an avid dancer and from playing futebol. As if we needed another reason to love her!

Daniela is “mature, independent [and has an] incredible personality,” says Paulo. She loves this profession and puts her heart into it with the full support of her family. Because of her age, her runway appearances were limited last year (if you can call 8 shows in New York, 4 in Milan and 3 in Paris “limited”) and her education dictated the amount of print work she was able to shoot. But she’ll be 15 this July and is taking advantage of flexible schooling so we’ll be sure to see more.

Returning home to Salzburg, Austria to spend a few days relaxing with her mother after a hectic show season (and a shoot with Mario Testino), lovely Iris Strubegger took the time to answer some quick questions and share her personal pictures from backstage with us.

Q&A

If you weren’t modeling you would be… in China with my boyfriend.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about beautiful things. I love art and I love it to be creative. I love beautiful and special pictures or drawings, even movies and songs.
What are your hobbies/interests? I like mountain biking, jogging or skiing in winter. I really prefer outdoor sports rather than working out in a gym. And I also love taking pictures or drawing, to be creative somehow.
How did you start modeling? I got scouted on the street in New York when I was there for student exchange, and, as I was not from there, they advised me to go to Place Models in Germany - the best advice!

Do you have any favourite designers? No, there are so many great designers out there that I could never decide and name only a few!
What is your best quality? I think my best quality is that I try to stay the way I am.
What are you listening to at the moment? Living Darfur from Mattafix.
Where is your favourite holiday destination? Croatia.
Who or what has influenced you the most in your life? My boyfriend and, of course, modelling.
What piece of advice would you give to aspiring models? Always respect people and be nice because you never know who you are going to work with next.
Do you have a special beauty/fitness routine you follow? It’s hard to follow routines when you never know where you are the next day. When I’m at home I eat healthy, warm meals for lunch and do outdoor sports every day. I try to do the same when I’m traveling for work, but it’s not always possible.
Which famous person would you like to meet? Ellen Pompeo and Karl Lagerfeld.
What languages can you speak? Only English and of course my mother language German. I would love to speak French which is really important for fashion.
Are you still studying? No, I finished school last spring. I want to go to university later.
What do your friends think about your modeling career? They think it’s great that one of their friends is a model but they also understand that it’s not the funny and easy job everybody thinks it is.
Do you collect anything? If so, what? Beautiful pictures.
Last book you read? Third part of The Golden Compass.
Best dish you can cook? “Schwammerlgulasch”, it’s an Austrian dish with mushrooms, dumplings and some kind of tomato sauce.
Favourite all-time model? Heidi Klum.
What are you thinking on the catwalk? Most of the time I don’t think anything because everything goes so fast!
Best modeling experience so far? I am so happy and grateful of my successful first fashion week season!
What does family think of you traveling so far away? Of course they miss me a lot. But they also support me all the time which is very important to me. When I’m not successful as a model I know that I can always return home.

Elvira Khisaeva @ President Model Management Moscow / Major Model Management Paris

Elvira Khisaeva is one of the standout new faces you saw again and again at last month’s haute couture extravaganza. This 17 year old from Ufa in the Western Urals region of Russia (go Wiki!) racked up seven shows. Count ‘em! Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Christophe Joss, Mastermind, Yumi Katsura, Hana Touma, Danny Attrache and Josep Font. So why the successful outing? First of all, at 178cm, she’s poised and elegant which of course are requirements for showcasing the pricey, arty garments. Second of all, look at her! What a face. It’s darling and adorable, sure, but Elvira also has that mysterious, heart-wrenching attractive quality. Sort of like the daring, independent daughter of a James Bond colleague. I’ll bet she knows how to wield a crossbow. Natalia Dadiani, from President’s international department, calls her a “sweetheart” and after watching her casting video and appearances at the HC shows, we agree.

Elvira’s been busy. She shot a story for Madame Figaro and last week worked with the very talented photographer Elina Kechicheva. Yep, those scorching pics right here at the top! Her stats are 83cm-58cm-88cm and she was discovered when she was 16 by one of the President scouts. Elvira signed with the fine folks at Major Model Management Paris. We should be seeing her in a few weeks in Milan and Paris for the ready to wear collections.
